Making of supporting instructional materials in
teaching really is a challenge. There are many factors that you should consider
before starting to make it. Factors that involves its relatedness to your
subject to be taught, the skills you wanted to developed to your students which
could be develop with the help of the supporting instructional materials you
are using, the learning styles of the students, for the students vary on how
they learn a particular lesson, and lastly, instructional materials you used
must fit and be appropriate with the learning objectives you have constructed.
Truly, it is really hard to make instructional materials, knowing that
creativity is really need for a teacher for creative instructional materials
should be used to catch the attention of
the learners so that they could focus with the lesson at hand.
In line with the lesson plan I made, my
instructional materials are models, charts, and pictures. Since it is a science subject, these instructional materials would
help the student understand the lesson for it gives them visual representations
of the concepts presented in the topic.
As I create my own instructional materials
particularly the pictures, it was harder than I expected. I really took into
considerations the factors listed above this reflection, and honestly, it was
really hard. However, I have overcome this problem, because I know all the
concepts of my lesson, and with that, I will know what is it not to be included
and what is to be included in my instructional materials.
Lastly, teachers should not depend on these
instructional materials, for teachers serve more than these, these
instructional materials only serve as a support and guide to the lesson, to the
activities and to the students. It is important that teachers also should be
very knowledgeable with what he/she is teaching.
